Frances the Mute- The Mars Volta

This album is fucknuts. Yes, it's me, back on the Interblog with a lazy Monday morning update. Things at Oberlin are good, and I just went to my first concert while there. The band was called Organ Yank, and they killed it. With one saxophonist, one keyboardist, one drummer and one guitarists, their hybrid of avant-garde funk and jazz was really intimidating live. In lieu of being able to post an album of theirs, I am posting what it reminded me of. This album, once again, is fucknuts. It is conceived of on a scale that few albums can even dream of being. The complete oversaturation of awesome on this CD is made more appropriate by the long jazz/ambient interludes, which can be dull to some, but add time for the listener's mind to wander through this ambitious, exhausting experience. The sound is basically prog-funk-jazz-metal-Latin-post-hardcore. Many of the lyrics are in Spanish. I can't explain why this album is really fucking cool. Just listen.
