The Downward Spiral- Nine Inch Nails

A classic of the 90s and arguably Nine Inch Nails' best work, this is a bleak techno-rock concept album about the depths to which drugs will take a man. Every song crackles with menace. The slow-burners seethe with hatred and despair ("Piggy," "Closer") and the more direct songs are raging statements of nihilism ("Heresy, ""March of the Pigs"). "Hurt" is one of the best songs ever written, but "The Becoming" and "A Warm Place" are two more underrated favorites of mine. One of the darkest albums ever put to tape, but also strangely accessible and melodic, this is one fucked-up 65 minutes. You should listen to it.
